In the winter of 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada, a family confrontation took a tragic and fatal turn, ending the life of 19-year-old James Bogar Lepe, a Hispanic/Latino male. On the evening of December 27th, Lepe accompanied his mother to his sister's apartment in the central part of the city. They went there to confront his sister's boyfriend, who was allegedly abusive.
The confrontation escalated into a violent altercation.
During the fight, the sister's boyfriend brandished a firearm and shot Lepe in the chest. The gunshot wound proved to be fatal, and his death was later ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner's office.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. Law enforcement officials with the Metropolitan Police Department began an investigation into the homicide. Authorities publicly encouraged the suspect to come forward and provide his account of the events that transpired. However, reports issued in the weeks following the incident indicated that no arrests had been made and no specific suspects had been publicly identified in connection with the shooting death of James Bogar Lepe.
