In the early morning hours of July 5, 2013, a night of entertainment at a Las Vegas Latin nightclub turned deadly for Ned Young, a 26-year-old African-American man. The tragic events began to unfold inside The Mayan Club, located near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue, where a dispute broke out. The conflict spilled out into the parking lot as patrons were leaving the club at approximately 3 a.m.
