In the early hours of Sunday, February 28, 2016, the life of 25-year-old Tiyona M. McCladdie, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was behind the wheel of a car, accompanied by a male passenger, when another vehicle pulled alongside them. In a sudden burst of violence, multiple gunshots were fired from the suspect's car into McCladdie's.
The force of the gunfire caused McCladdie to lose control of his vehicle, which then rolled a short
distance, jumped a median, and came to a final stop near the intersection of South Decatur Boulevard and Evergreen Avenue. The suspect vehicle, described only as a dark-colored car, fled the scene, disappearing into the night. When police arrived at approximately 1:50 a.m., they found McCladdie with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger had also been shot and was rushed to University Medical Center for treatment. He was reported to be in stable condition. In the days that followed, law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and capture of the person or persons responsible for this senseless act of violence. However, despite their pleas, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murder of Tiyona M. McCladdie. The case has seemingly gone cold, leaving a family to mourn and a community with unanswered questions about the death of a young man in the prime of his life.
