Yolanda Rene Lancaster, a 36-year-old African-American woman, was reported missing on February 5, 2009. She was one of several victims linked to the unidentified serial killer known as the Edgecombe County serial killer, also referred to as "The Seven Bridges Killer." The victims in this case were predominantly African-American women, many of whom had histories of drug addiction or prostitution.
Their remains were discovered in various locations around Edgecombe and Halifax counties in North Carolina, with several bodies found near Seven Bridges Road.
Lancaster's remains were discovered in January 2011 in a wooded area off Seven Bridges Road by a group of hunters. Her case remains unsolved, as the serial killer responsible for multiple deaths in the area has never been apprehended. While law enforcement suspected a connection between the victims, only one man was arrested and convicted in relation to one of the murders—Taraha Nicholson's case. However, the rest of the cases, including Lancaster's, remain officially unsolved.
The Edgecombe County serial killer is believed to have been active between 2005 and 2009, targeting vulnerable women in the Rocky Mount area. The victims shared similar backgrounds, and their disappearances followed a disturbing pattern. Despite extensive investigations, authorities have been unable to identify the perpetrator, leaving Lancaster's family and the families of other victims without closure.
