On Sunday evening, May 11, 2025, 20-year-old Hispanic male, Anicio Kane Bernard of Casper, Wyoming, was fatally shot during a confrontation inside a second-floor unit at the Foxhill Apartments in the 1900 block of South Missouri Avenue. Police were dispatched after 6:50 p.m. on reports of gunfire; arriving officers found one adult male outside the building with a gunshot wound and another adult male inside the apartment with a gunshot wound.
Bernard, a 20-year-old male, was pronounced deceased; the second man was transported to Banner Wyoming Medical Center in critical condition.
The Natrona County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 20-year-old male Anicio Kane Bernard and noted that next of kin had been notified and an autopsy was pending.
According to the Casper Police Department's preliminary findings, the shooting at the apartment followed a confrontation in which there was an exchange of gunfire inside the unit. Detectives located and interviewed numerous other individuals who were present, and investigators described the incident as isolated while continuing to execute search warrants and pursue leads.
