On the evening of April 6, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia, a compassionate and dedicated 41-year-old African American man named Keith Lamont Barnes was fatally shot, his life tragically cut short. The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Victory Boulevard. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Barnes suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate attention, he was pronounced dead at the location.
