On the evening of April 6, 2025, 41-year-old African American male Keith Lamont Barnes was fatally shot in Portsmouth, Virginia. The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Victory Boulevard. Responding officers found Keith Lamont Barnes suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
