Joesi Dominion Martin, a 33-year-old White/Caucasian male from Capon Bridge, West Virginia, was killed late on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Hampshire County sheriff’s deputies were sent to a residence on Adam Lane in the Wolfe’s Trailer Park area near Capon Bridge after receiving a report of an unresponsive person. Officers arrived just before midnight and found Martin covered in blood and suffering from severe wounds. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators determined that multiple gunshots had struck the chest and head. Investigators reported finding evidence at the homicide scene, including cartridge casings, and said additional evidence recovered from Settle’s vehicle connected the crash and the shooting. Police alleged that Settle left the residence after the gunfire and was attempting to get out of the area when the vehicle crashed along the Route 50/Northwestern Pike corridor near Sycamore Drive.
Settle was taken into custody at the Virginia hospital after Hampshire County investigators identified Settle as the suspect. Authorities charged Settle with first-degree murder in Martin’s death as well as possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Settle was initially held in Virginia while awaiting extradition to West Virginia. A later Hampshire County booking record shows Jesse Glen Settle was booked there on March 11, 2025, with first-degree murder and possession-with-intent charges listed, indicating that Settle had subsequently been returned to West Virginia to face the case.
