On the evening of December 30, 2024, 33-year-old African American man Diondre Bittle was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Century University City Apartments on Dave McKinney Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina. Responding to a 9:15 p.m. call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers found Bittle deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
