On January 14, 2025, Jaquad Malik Pearson, a 19-year-old male, was fatally shot in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Brookshire Boulevard. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they discovered Pearson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Following an extensive investigation, CMPD’s Homicide Unit identified two suspects in connection with Pearson’s murder. Authorities arrested 18-year-old Demetrius Kavon Adams and a juvenile suspect. The arrests were made with assistance from the Real Time Crime Center, North Tryon officers, and the Crime Reduction Unit. Both suspects were taken to the Law Enforcement Center, where they were interviewed by homicide detectives before being transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. They have each been charged with murder.
The shooting took place at the Market Express convenience store on Brookshire Boulevard. Investigators processed the scene, collecting physical evidence and speaking with witnesses. CMPD officials have stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional details may be released as new information emerges.
