On the night of December 30, 1983, William Richard "Jim" Winters Jr., aged 35, was found dead at his residence located at 3940 Guthrie Street in Charlotte, North Carolina. His home was being used as an illegal gambling house at the time. Winters died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.
