On April 9, 2010, 17-year-old Reginald Leverette was shot and killed while walking down a street in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. The shooting occurred in the afternoon, around 3 p.m., on Catherine Simmons Avenue, near West Charlotte High School. According to witnesses, the assailant drove up in a car and fired multiple shots, hitting Leverette in the side. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
