On December 29, 1997, 21-year-old Thomas Bruce Alford was shot and killed in his home located at 4240 The Plaza in Charlotte, North Carolina. Alford had been at home with two witnesses when he answered a knock at the door. After a brief conversation with the individual outside, two men attempted to rob him.
