On November 16, 2017, 41-year-old Jay Jevon Phifer was shot and killed near West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The shooting took place in broad daylight around 1 p.m., prompting the school to go into lockdown as a precaution. Phifer was found outside a home near the scene and was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after the incident.
