On April 3, 2010, Tony Alston, a 44-year-old resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, was fatally shot at the front door of his home on Minnesota Road. Alston, a transgender individual, had lived as a woman for over 20 years. After being shot, Alston managed to seek help from a neighbor and described the assailant as a Black man in a gray T-shirt before passing away.
Investigators initially suspected robbery, but there was no evidence of forced entry or theft, leaving the case unsolved despite efforts to gather more information from the community.
