On the morning of September 18, 2016, Darius Deon Chapman, a 33-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Brookshire Boulevard near Interstate 85. A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer, upon noticing what appeared to be a car accident, stopped to investigate.
