On March 12, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 11600 block of Red Hickory Lane, located in the Steele Creek Division of Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Shemar DeAlvin Hayes suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced Hayes deceased at the scene.
