Linny Nixon IV, an 18-year-old male from Beaumont, Texas, tragically lost his life on April 28, 2025, following a fatal shooting at the Landmark Apartments on French Road. Nixon was found outside his apartment and was rushed to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident, which occurred in the early evening, has led to the indictment of two teenage suspects, Trevor Green and John Jones, both 17 years old.
According to law enforcement officials, the
shooting was premeditated, with Green admitting to detectives that he had planned to steal Nixon’s firearm. Green confessed to shooting Nixon with the victim’s own handgun while inside Nixon’s apartment. After the shooting, Green fled the scene with Jones, handing Nixon’s firearm to Jones, who then escaped with it. Jones also provided a statement to authorities, confirming his presence in the apartment and witnessing Green shoot Nixon.
Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a male suspect, dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans, fleeing from the apartment complex. Surveillance footage later confirmed that Jones was the individual seen leaving the scene. Another witness stated that Green had requested a ride away from the location, but the request for Jones to accompany them was denied.
Following their surrender to authorities on April 29, both suspects were indicted for murder by a Jefferson County grand jury. Green’s bond was set at $850,000, while Jones’ bond was set at $800,000 for murder and an additional $6,000 for a separate charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. If released on bond, both suspects would be required to wear GPS monitoring devices, remain in home confinement, and avoid any contact with Nixon’s family.
Nixon, who was affectionately known as "Lil' Linny," was born on June 8, 2006, in Beaumont, Texas. He had a deep love for fishing and sports and had graduated from Parkerson Stem Academy. He was also a young father, leaving behind his son, Calix Jackson, and his unborn child, Linnox Jrue Nixon. Nixon’s passing has left a profound impact on his family, including his parents, Rokesha Thibodeaux and Linny Nixon III, as well as his numerous siblings and extended relatives. His funeral services were scheduled to take place on May 10, 2025, at Comeaux-Community Mortuary & Cremations, followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
