On the morning of July 30, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m., Beaumont Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at the West End Crossing Apartments, located at 6550 Phelan Blvd. Upon arrival, they discovered 17-year-old Zavion Massey, a resident of Houston, deceased in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had collided with a fence within the complex. Preliminary investigations indicated that Massey had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
