Melvin Savoy Jr., a 56-year-old African American man from Beaumont, Texas, tragically passed away on October 15, 2020. He was found lying in a pool of blood in an open field in Beaumont's North End neighborhood, suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. Witnesses reported that Savoy had been involved in a verbal dispute with Murray Melvin Odom III, 45, over missing tools. During the altercation, Odom shot Savoy and then fled the scene, later turning himself into the police.
