Ryan Cobbins, aged 26, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds on December 31, 2013, in Kansas City, Missouri. Cobbins had previously gone missing on October 24, 2013, after a haircut appointment. The case involved significant complications linked to an alleged ransom situation. It was reported that Lester E. Brown accepted a $20,000 payment from Christopher Harris, a close associate of Cobbins, as "ransom" for Cobbins' return, yet Cobbins was not released and was later found dead.
