Joel Jenkins, a 33-year-old male from Beaumont, Texas, was fatally shot in the early hours of May 13, 2025. The incident occurred at a residence on the 1400 block of Prairie Avenue, following an argument during a game of dominoes. Beaumont police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:05 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jenkins, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities quickly identified 30-year-old Travon Alexander as
the primary suspect in the shooting. Witness statements and investigative efforts led police to arrest Alexander, who was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was transported to the Beaumont Police Department for questioning before being booked into the Jefferson County Jail. According to an affidavit, Alexander confessed to shooting Jenkins four or five times during the altercation. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle and multiple 7.62 caliber shell casings at the scene.
Following his arraignment, Alexander’s bond was set at $1 million. If released, he will be required to wear a GPS monitor, remain in home confinement, and avoid any contact with the victim’s family. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and witness testimonies.
