Terry Lee Thompson, a 63-year-old man from Beaumont, Texas, tragically lost his life on April 8, 2025. Thompson was riding a motorized bicycle in the 1300 block of Pipkin Street when he was approached by a group of four juveniles. During an attempted robbery, he was fatally shot. Emergency responders transported him to a Beaumont hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities swiftly launched an investigation into the incident, leading to the arrest of Myles Horne, a
17-year-old from Beaumont. Horne was indicted on charges of murder and aggravated robbery. Although he was not the individual who fired the fatal shot, his involvement in the attempted robbery resulted in his murder charge. His bond was set at $1,500,000, with $1,000,000 allocated for the murder charge and $500,000 for the aggravated robbery charge. If released on bond, Horne was ordered to remain at home, wear a GPS monitoring device, and avoid contact with the victim’s family.
Law enforcement officials also arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the crime. However, they continued searching for two additional suspects who fled the scene eastbound on Pipkin Street toward Park. The Beaumont Police Department credited tips from neighbors and Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers for aiding in the identification and arrest of Horne. Officers apprehended him at a residence on Chaison Street, where he surrendered with his hands raised. A woman was also taken into custody at the scene, though authorities later confirmed she had not been charged.
Thompson’s remains were cremated, and his family took possession of his ashes. His obituary was published by Proctor’s Mortuary in Beaumont, where condolences and messages of support could be shared. Funeral arrangements were pending at the time of reporting. The investigation into the incident remained ongoing as authorities worked to locate the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
