Joshua Jerome Green, a 31-year-old African American man from Beaumont, Texas, tragically passed away on May 11, 2015. He was fatally shot at Liberia Park in Beaumont's South End. According to witnesses, Joshua Green was speaking to someone when several shots were fired, striking him at least twice. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Joshua Green's death led to the arrest of Arthur Ray Rogers, Jr., also known as "Juicy," who was identified as the shooter.
Rogers was found to have retrieved a gun from his car's trunk and walked toward the park before opening fire. He later pleaded guilty to the murder of Joshua Green.
In addition to Rogers, two other men, Michael Jason Green and Desmond Arnez Nixon, were indicted for capital murder in connection with a separate but related incident at Magnolia Park, which occurred shortly after Joshua Green's death. Witnesses claimed that Michael Green and Nixon acted together in the execution-style shooting that killed two men and wounded a third. The police believe that the triple shooting was connected to Joshua Green's murder.
The case was investigated by the Beaumont Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Mike Laird. Arthur Ray Rogers, Jr. was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Joshua Green.
