On the evening of April 13, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina, a dispute between roommates escalated into a fatal act of violence. Tiwaun Shantell Graham, a 45-year-old African American man, was found with at least one gunshot wound at a residence on Orlando Avenue. Despite the efforts of first responders, Graham was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office quickly identified Graham's roommate, 57-year-old Michael Anthony Stephens, as the primary suspect in
the shooting. Authorities believe an altercation between the two men led to the deadly encounter. Following the incident, Stephens fled the state, prompting a search by law enforcement.
The day after the shooting, on April 14, 2025, Michael Anthony Stephens was apprehended in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was taken into custody by the Raleigh Police Department. Stephens now faces multiple charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a person with a prior felony conviction. He is currently awaiting extradition back to South Carolina to face legal proceedings for the death of his roommate.
