Officer George Staples Burroughs, a dedicated member of the Greenville Police Department in South Carolina, tragically lost his life on May 6, 1921. At the age of 48, Officer Burroughs responded to a domestic disturbance call on Westfield Street. Upon arrival, he encountered a suspect with whom he engaged in a physical struggle.
