In the summer of 2023, the life of 19-year-old Toriano Amer Lamont Harris was tragically cut short in Greenville, South Carolina. On the evening of Thursday, July 6, Harris was discovered in an alleyway near Smythe Avenue, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Greenville County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene, and his death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation into the shooting
death of the Taylors resident, who was also known by the nickname 'Julio,' soon revealed a grim narrative of betrayal and a robbery gone fatally wrong. Investigators determined that the motive behind the killing was a planned robbery. It is believed that at least one of the individuals involved was an acquaintance of Harris and had plotted to rob him. During the course of this robbery, Harris was shot and killed, his life taken just a couple of miles outside of downtown Greenville.
In the months that followed, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office made a series of arrests in connection with the murder. Shamari Robinson was taken into custody and faced the most severe charge of murder. Two other individuals, Garcia Petite-Frere and an unnamed minor, were also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Following their arrests, the suspects were awaiting a bond hearing. The community was asked to come forward with any additional information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
