In the early morning hours of February 13, 2025, a tragedy began to unfold in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood that would end the life of 26-year-old Taylor Flay Hall, a Black/African American woman and mother of two. The events of that day started inside an apartment on Kelvin Street where Hall was shot. In a desperate attempt to save her own life, she managed to get into her vehicle, intending to drive to a hospital.
Her flight for medical help was tragically cut short just a couple
of blocks away when she crashed her SUV into a utility pole at the intersection of Chartiers Avenue and Sutherland Street. First responders arrived at the crash scene around 8:30 a.m. to find Hall inside her vehicle with a gunshot wound. Firefighters administered CPR until she was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts to save her, Taylor Hall was pronounced dead later that morning.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and as of the latest reports, the Pittsburgh police have not identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with her death. The investigation into her homicide, the fourth in Pittsburgh that year, is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Shortly before the incident, Hall had made a cryptic post on Facebook, and while her death prompted an outpouring of grief on social media, there has been a lack of public information regarding what transpired inside the apartment.
