On the evening of May 2, 2025, Larisha Sharell Thompson, a 40-year-old mother of two from Lancaster, South Carolina, was driving to a friend's house. Her family lost contact with her, prompting a search that ended in a tragic discovery on Riverside Road. Thompson was found inside her 2021 Honda Accord, having been fatally shot.
The investigation into her death led to the arrests of six individuals within ten days.
The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Asael Aminadas Torres-Chirinos, 18-year-old Jarby Ardon Ramos-Odari, 17-year-old Jeyson Sobied Pineda-Salgado, and three minors aged 13, 14, and 15. Authorities stated that the group, all from Honduras, were in the country illegally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has since placed detainers on all six individuals.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, the motive for the shooting was a random act of violence during an attempted robbery. It is alleged that the suspects pulled up alongside Thompson's vehicle and opened fire, striking and killing her, before attempting to enter her car. Torres-Chirinos has been identified as the alleged shooter.
The investigation also connected the suspects to a burglary at a convenience store that occurred just days before the murder. Ballistic evidence from both crime scenes confirmed that the same firearm was used in both incidents. All six suspects are facing charges of murder, attempted armed robbery, and burglary. Torres-Chirinos faces additional charges for possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by an unlawful alien.
