On the afternoon of March 19, 2025, William M. Davis, a 28-year-old African American man, was fatally shot at a residence on Mary Alexander Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after 2 p.m.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department initiated a homicide investigation and, by April 2, 2025, determined the incident to be a justified homicide.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office reviewed and concurred with this decision, resulting in no charges being filed. All individuals involved were identified, and authorities confirmed that no additional suspects were being sought.
William M. Davis was born on June 26, 1996, and was a resident of Charlotte. His life was commemorated with a visitation and memorial service held on March 28, 2025, at Little Rock AME Zion Church in Charlotte.
