In the early evening of March 23, 2025, a dispute that began inside a vehicle tragically escalated in the parking lot of a QuikTrip near 11th Street and Garnett Road in Tulsa, Oklahoma, claiming the life of 22-year-old Anthony Banuelos. The young man, a devoted father of two, became embroiled in an altercation with another individual that spilled out of their car and onto the pavement of the busy convenience store.
The argument took a fatal turn when the other person involved produced a
firearm and shot Banuelos. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene around 7:30 p.m., where they found Banuelos with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. The entire incident was captured on the store's security cameras, providing investigators with crucial evidence of the events that transpired.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. However, law enforcement, utilizing a helicopter and FLOCK cameras, was able to track down the individual. The unnamed suspect later turned himself in to the authorities. After being questioned by homicide detectives, the suspect was released from custody.
The case has been handed over to the district attorney's office, which will review the evidence, including witness statements and the surveillance footage, to determine if charges will be filed. As the investigation continues, the family and friends of Anthony Banuelos are left to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a cherished son and loyal brother. A fundraiser was organized to offer support to his loved ones during this difficult time.
