In the early morning hours of February 1, 2025, the quiet of a Kansas City neighborhood was broken by the response of firefighters to a blaze at a vacant church in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue. After they managed to control and extinguish the flames that had engulfed the structure, a grim discovery was made inside.
