In the late afternoon of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the sound of gunfire shattered the daytime calm on the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey. When police responded to the reports of shots fired at approximately 4:25 p.m., they discovered a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Ah’kim Esdaile, a male resident of Asbury Park.
First responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The death of Ah'kim Esdaile prompted an immediate and intensive investigation led by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau in conjunction with the Asbury Park Police Department. For several months, detectives worked to piece together the events of that tragic afternoon, seeking information from the public to help identify a suspect and determine a motive for the shooting. The investigation continued for weeks without an arrest, leaving the community seeking answers.
Three months later, a significant breakthrough was made in the case. On Monday, July 14, 2025, authorities announced the arrest of 19-year-old Jordan Glisson, also of Asbury Park. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force and the Asbury Park Police Department took Glisson into custody. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and multiple weapons offenses in connection with the fatal shooting of Ah’kim Esdaile. Following his arrest, Glisson was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await his first appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.
