In the late hours of Thursday, March 13, 2025, a physical altercation in the hallway of a Bellevue, Nebraska, apartment building escalated into a fatal encounter. George Negrete, a 21-year-old Caucasian male, was shot and killed. The incident, which was reported to police at approximately 10:26 p.m., unfolded in the 1400 block of south Galvin Road.
According to police, Negrete was involved in a physical altercation with 23-year-old Christian Lara, also of Bellevue.
During the dispute, Lara allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old female. The confrontation culminated with Lara shooting Negrete in the leg with a rifle. The female sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
When Bellevue police officers arrived at the apartment complex, they discovered Negrete with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures being performed, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Investigators have stated that Negrete and Lara were acquainted with each other, and the incident was not a random act of violence.
Following the altercation, Christian Lara was treated at a hospital for injuries he sustained during the physical dispute. Upon his release, he was arrested without incident. Lara is currently lodged at the Sarpy County Jail and faces charges of 2nd Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Assault, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Terroristic Threats.
