In the quiet city of Bellevue, Nebraska, a burst of violence on the evening of January 20, 2025, irrevocably shattered the life of 21-year-old Jaydon Palma. At approximately 7:56 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed in the 7500 block of South 50th Street, prompting a swift response from Bellevue Police. Officers arrived to find Jaydon Palma, a male resident of Bellevue, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders administered lifesaving measures at the scene before rushing him to the Nebraska Medicine, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting, which authorities stated did not appear to be a random act, led to the arrests of two teenagers. Oscar Salazar, 18, of Bellevue, was already in custody at the Sarpy County Jail on unrelated charges when he was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and other weapons-related offenses in connection with Palma's death. Shortly after, 18-year-old Alondra Romero-Figueroa, also of Bellevue, was arrested and charged with two counts of accessory to a felony first-degree murder.
During court proceedings, prosecutors alleged that Salazar had made threats to multiple individuals and that Romero-Figueroa had provided transportation for Salazar to and from the scene of the fatal shooting. A judge denied bond for Salazar, while Romero-Figueroa's bond was set at $5 million. Friends and family remembered Jaydon, a former Millard South High School student affectionately known as "Spooky," as a hardworking individual who held jobs at Amazon, Oriental Trading Company, and Marco's Pizza.
