In the early evening of March 4, 2025, the Essex, Maryland community was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 49-year-old Stacy Cooper. A female, Cooper was in the vicinity of Honeywood Place and Sugarwood Circle when gunfire erupted at approximately 6:10 p.m. The Baltimore County Police were alerted to the shooting by a ShotSpotter report, a system designed to detect and locate gunfire incidents.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Cooper suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite any efforts to render aid, she was pronounced deceased at the location.
The investigation into Stacy Cooper's death quickly led homicide detectives to a suspect. Authorities identified 37-year-old Gregory Graham as the individual allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting. Two days after the incident, Graham was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with Cooper's homicide. The charges brought against him were significant, including one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder, indicating the serious nature of the alleged crime.
Following his arrest, Gregory Graham was taken to the Baltimore County Detention Center.
