On a quiet Sunday, March 28, 2021, the life of 62-year-old Olivia Green was violently and unexpectedly ended. Olivia, a female, and her husband, 58-year-old Douglas Green, were discovered in the garage of their Baldwin home, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The architect of this tragedy was their own son, 27-year-old Joshua Green. After taking the lives of his parents, Joshua embarked on a further rampage of violence.
He proceeded to a Royal Farms convenience store located in Essex, where he indiscriminately opened fire, killing 62-year-old Alpha Smith and 43-year-old Silvesta Daye, Jr., and injuring another individual.
From the scene of the public carnage, Joshua Green went to his own apartment. There, after setting his residence ablaze, he turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. Investigators determined that Joshua had legally purchased the firearm used in the multiple homicides. In the aftermath, his sister revealed that he had a long history of struggles with his mental health. With the suspect deceased, the investigation concluded without any arrests, and the community was left to grapple with the unanswered questions behind the senseless violence.
