On the evening of April 30, 2025, Derrick Lamont Ewing, a 51-year-old Black/African American man from Minneapolis, was fatally shot in what was the last of a series of deadly shootings that occurred over a 20-hour period in the city. His death was later ruled a homicide caused by complications from multiple gunshot wounds.
