In the early morning hours of December 3, 2023, the life of Jamartre Michael Sanders, a 24-year-old Black man, was cut tragically short inside a Minneapolis tobacco shop. The scene was the Royal Cigar & Tobacco in the city's Dinkytown neighborhood, a place that would soon become the site of a violent altercation with fatal consequences. What began as a verbal argument between two groups of customers inside the shop quickly spiraled into a physical fight.
