In the early morning hours of New Year's Eve 2024, a dispute in the Algonquin neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, turned fatal, claiming the life of 29-year-old Quante Burris. The male victim was found by Metro Police at the Parkway Place Apartments in the 1600 block of South 13th Street around 4:15 a.m. with gunshot wounds. Burris was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police reports, the shooting stemmed from a 'verbal and physical altercation' between Burris and his girlfriend. Following the dispute, Burris's girlfriend contacted several individuals, including 33-year-old Robert Handley, to remove Burris from her residence. This led to a confrontation between Handley and Burris, which escalated into a physical fight. At some point during the altercation, Handley allegedly drew a handgun and shot Burris in the chest.
Following an investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit, Criminal Interdiction Division, and SWAT team, Robert Handley was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. Handley has been charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a prohibited person. He is currently being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
