In the spring of 2025, the life of 19-year-old Garron Joe Wingate was tragically cut short in Statesboro, Georgia. On the evening of Friday, March 28th, Wingate was visiting friends and attending a party in the 100 block of Ashbrook Drive. A call was made to Bulloch County 911 at 10:39 PM reporting a shooting at the residence.
Emergency services, including Bulloch County EMS and Sheriff's deputies, were dispatched to the scene. They discovered Wingate with life-threatening injuries.
He was rushed to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, but medical professionals were unable to save him, and he succumbed to his injuries.
The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office immediately began an investigation into the shooting. According to the Bulloch County Coroner, the preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting was accidental. It was reported that Wingate had been handling a handgun when it discharged, inflicting the fatal wound. The coroner officially ruled the death an accidental shooting.
In the wake of the incident, authorities confirmed that the investigation was ongoing to understand the full circumstances of the accidental shooting. However, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified in connection with the event. The case remains classified as a tragic accident.
