On May 8, 2025, 27-year-old Black male Daniel Blalock of North Chicago, Illinois, was fatally shot while seated in a vehicle outside a residence in the 400 block of North Sheridan Road in Waukegan. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 11:59 a.m. and found Daniel Blalock suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An autopsy conducted by the Lake County Coroner's Office confirmed that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
The Waukegan Police Department's Major Crime Scene Unit and Criminal Investigations Division processed the scene and initiated a homicide investigation. Sheridan Road was closed between Grand Avenue and Cory Avenue for several hours as investigators collected evidence and documented the scene. As of May 9, 2025, no arrests had been made, and authorities had not released information regarding any suspects or motives.
