On October 27, 2023, Jamir Johnson, a 30-year-old resident of Gurnee, Illinois, was found dead along with another individual, 59-year-old David Miller of Lindenhurst, in a hotel room at the former Ramada Inn located at 200 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, Illinois.

The Waukegan police responded to the hotel around 9:50 p.m. for a death investigation and discovered both men inside one of the rooms with gunshot wounds.
