Leon Pruitt Jr., a 26-year-old African American male from Waukegan, IL, was found dead in the early hours of August 12, 2017. The Waukegan Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at an upstairs apartment in the 500 block of Cummings Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Leon Pruitt Jr. unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital by the Waukegan Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
