Sergeant Harry E. White II, aged 30, was a dedicated officer with the Waukegan Police Department in Illinois. On November 13, 1977, he responded to a call about a suspect who had murdered his wife and was spotted in a tavern in Winthrop Harbor. When Sergeant White attempted to arrest the suspect, the man produced a handgun and shot the officer, killing him instantly.
