On the evening of February 2, 2025, a tragic event unfolded in the 1400 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast in Washington, D.C. Seventeen-year-old Trey’zuan Charles, a male resident of Northeast, was found suffering from a gunshot wound at approximately 9:11 p.m. Officers from the Fifth District responded to reports of a shooting and discovered the injured teenager.
Emergency services from DC Fire and EMS arrived at the scene and transported Trey’zuan to a local hospital for
treatment. For over a month, he fought for his life. Despite all life-saving efforts, Trey’zuan Charles succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Following his death, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. Consequently, the manner of death was officially ruled a homicide. The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
