In the late hours of a cold January evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 28-year-old James Lamont Stewart, a male resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was tragically cut short. On Sunday, January 6, 2019, at approximately 10:54 p.m., the sound of gunshots echoed through the 800 block of Varnum Street, Northwest, prompting calls to the Metropolitan Police Department. Responding officers arrived to a grim scene, discovering Stewart suffering from gunshot wounds.
