On August 31, 2004, Charles Burks was shot and killed in the early morning hours in the vicinity of the 4600 block of Benning Road, East Capitol Street, and Central Avenue NE, Washington, D.C. The incident took place between 3:00 and 3:15 a.m. Burks was found dead at the scene due to gunshot wounds, and authorities have been trying to gather information to solve this tragic homicide.
