In the evening hours of January 18, 2021, tragedy struck in the nation's capital, forever altering the lives of a Washington, D.C. family. Delonte Anthony Wall, a 30-year-old Black man, was in the unit block of Farragut Place, Northwest, when he was shot. The incident occurred at approximately 9:33 p.m. First responders arrived to find Wall suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Delonte Anthony Wall succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Delonte was a graduate of Roosevelt Senior High School. He had continued his education at Montgomery College and had also earned his real estate license from the Weichert Real Estate School. Known for his commitment to his community, he had been an employee at Home Depot for five years and had also served on the election board. Those who knew him remember his willingness to help the elderly and the joy he found in spending time with his family. He was a son, a brother, and an uncle, leaving behind his mother, two sisters, and several nieces and a nephew.
In the wake of his death, the Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation. To date, authorities have not released any detailed descriptions or the names of any potential suspects in the shooting death of Delonte Anthony Wall. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered by the police department for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. The family and community continue to await answers and seek justice for a life cut tragically short.
