In the summer of 2014, a young man’s life was abruptly cut short on the streets of Southeast Washington, D.C. On the afternoon of June 11th, 22-year-old Gerald Sidney Martin, a Black male from Northeast D.C., was shot multiple times in the 1800 block of Tobias Drive, SE. Despite his grave injuries, Martin managed to flee the scene, collapsing about 1,000 feet away in the 1900 block of Bruce Place, SE.
Emergency services were called to the scene where they found Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but tragically, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The Metropolitan Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting death of Gerald Martin.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for this violent act.
