In the summer of 2014, a young man’s life was abruptly cut short on the streets of Southeast Washington, D.C. On the afternoon of June 11th, 22-year-old Gerald Sidney Martin, a Black male from Northeast D.C., was shot multiple times in the 1800 block of Tobias Drive, SE. Despite his grave injuries, Martin managed to flee the scene, collapsing about 1,000 feet away in the 1900 block of Bruce Place, SE.
