Mack Wesley Cantrell, aged 51, was a security guard with the District of Columbia Protective Services Police Department. On March 9, 1977, he was critically injured during a violent takeover of the District Building in Washington, D.C., by a group of Hanafi Muslims. The attackers, led by Hamaas Abdul Khaalis, stormed the building and two other nearby locations, taking hostages and causing chaos.
